Talk With Strangers is a video chat service that connects you randomly with other users. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information is collected and how it is used.
We collect minimal information necessary to operate the service:
Display name — The name you enter before joining a room. This is used only to identify you to other participants during a video call and is not stored after the session ends.
Device identifier — A randomly generated ID stored locally in your browser (localStorage). This is used to track your session and room assignment. It is not linked to your identity and is never shared with third parties.
IP address — Your IP address is logged by our servers when you connect, and is recorded if you submit or are the subject of a user report (see "Blocking and Reporting" below). It is used only for abuse prevention.
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information. No account or registration is required to use this service.
You can block another user at any time; once blocked, neither of you will be matched into a room together again. You can also report a user for abusive behavior, which automatically blocks them as well.
A report includes the reason and any details you provide, along with your IP address at the time of the report and the reported user's most recently known IP address. This information is retained so that reports involving serious misconduct (harassment, illegal content, or similar) can be investigated and, if necessary, referred to law enforcement. It is not used to identify you for any other purpose.
Video and audio during calls are transmitted peer-to-peer or through our self-hosted Jitsi server. We do not record, store, or monitor video or audio from any calls.
This site uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your browsing activity. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of personalized advertising at google.com/settings/ads.
We use localStorage (not cookies) to remember your display name and room preferences between sessions. This data stays on your device and is never transmitted to our servers except as part of the normal session flow described above. Google AdSense may set its own cookies for ad personalization.
Video calling is powered by Jitsi Meet, which is self-hosted on our own server. No video or call data is sent to third-party video providers.
This service is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
